The Things We Almost Forgot: Reimagining Vintage Textiles

The Things We Almost Forgot
There’s something about old textiles that stops me in my tracks.
The faded colors. The worn edges. The strange little imperfections that tell you they’ve been somewhere before you found them.
A pile of folded fabric might not look like much at first glance.
But I see possibility.
I’ve been collecting vintage textiles quietly behind the scenes. Pieces that have been tucked away, forgotten, passed over, or simply waiting for someone to look at them differently.
And lately, I’ve been asking myself a question:
What if we didn’t just preserve beautiful old things? What if we gave them an entirely new life?
That question has turned into a much bigger project than I originally imagined.
I’ve been digging through textiles, studying patterns, thinking about texture, experimenting with materials, and imagining what these pieces could become when they’re taken completely out of their original context.
This isn’t just about making something pretty.
It’s about the story of the material.
The hands that made it.
The places it has been.
The years it has survived.
And the possibility that it still has something left to become.
Hook & Vine has always been about looking at familiar things differently, taking an ordinary idea and disrupting it.
This project is taking that idea somewhere new.
I’m not ready to show you everything yet.
For now, there’s just a growing pile of forgotten textiles sitting behind the scenes…
…and a very big idea taking shape around them.
Some things don’t need to be replaced.
They just need to be reimagined.
